Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS):
In the diagnosis and treatment of this syndrome, many women will face challenges including conflictual medical data, symptoms that are not always responsive to medication, symptoms that cause shame and often trigger feelings of defectiveness, barriers in relationships (including fertility issues), feelings of invalidation and loneliness with the diagnosis, challenges around meal planning and nutrition, body image concerns, and feeling out of control of one’s body. Melissa has treated women with this diagnosis and has a wealth of knowledge on this subject.
In working with a medical doctor and a dietitian familiar with PCOS, hope can be created to help accept this diagnosis and to feel some relief through therapy and shared experiences with peers or supports.
